On Wednesday, August 7, the Nebraska Diplomats announced that Owen Palm, president and CEO of 21st Century Equipment and a Nebraska Diplomat since 2002, won the prestigious Diplomat of the Year award at their annual awards banquet. Governor Jim Pillen, Nebraska Diplomats President Desiree Wineland, and Nebraska Department of Agriculture Director Sherry Vinton presented this year’s awards at the Younes Conference Center North in Kearney, Nebraska.

Bobcat is expanding its utility tractor lineup with the introduction of three new machines: the 66-hp UT6066 and UT6566, and the 73-hp UT6573. Unlike other Bobcat tractors designed for hobby farming and nonagricultural applications, the new machines are designed to work on larger farms.

"These are the largest tractors that bobcat currently has," says Kylle Demars, a senior product specialist at Bobcat. "We're targeting a larger customer profile -- a little bit larger acreage. We will see more agricultural applications."

Husqvarna Group has signed an agreement to acquire the Brazilian company InCeres, a digital platform in the Professional light agriculture segment. InCeres is an expert in soil analysis that facilitates decision-making and improves productivity for farmers. Its precise agriculture digital platform will act as the cornerstone for establishing Husqvarna Group's Total Farm Management offering in the Light Agriculture business unit within the Husqvarna Forest & Garden Division.

For four days this past week, more than 100 crop scouts sampled 2,000 to 3,000 fields in seven Midwest states as part of the one-of-a-kind Pro Farmer Crop Tour. Building on the boots-on-the-ground data and observations, Pro Farmer considers crop maturity and historical differences in Crop Tour data versus USDA's final yields to release its national production estimates.

 

The EPA has released their final Herbicide Strategy for protecting more than 900 endangered and threatened species from the potential impacts of herbicides. More than a year in the making, the strategy will be used by the EPA when registering new herbicides and reevaluating registered herbicides.
