Welcome to the Friday mailbag where you will find some of the comments, questions and ideas sent recently by readers of this newsletter or our publications. They are edited for space and clarity.
“I believe the ‘over/under’ argument has to do with whether or not you are a folder or a wadder of your toilet paper (How do you roll?, Oct. 16, 2024). I'm a folder, so I prefer an ‘over’ for ease of folding and tearing off. The roll is less likely to un-roll when tearing off.” - Irving
I like your logic, but are you sure you are not a wadder? - Shane
“So what do you do about this tissue issue — the extra-large rolls in plastic cases that are mounted sideways and come out the bottom (How do you roll?, Oct. 16, 2024)? The frustration with those is that they often tear way up inside the case, making retrieving more tissue a major challenge!” - Chuck
You just addressed one of the world’s greatest problems, Chuck. The only clear solution is to carry a roll of toilet paper with you at all times. - Shane
“I grew up in a house where the toilet paper roll was always ‘under’ (How do you roll?, Oct. 16, 2024). When I moved in with roommates who were ‘overs,’ I discovered that ‘over’ gives easier access since the paper comes off the front of the roll rather than the back. No more groping back by the wall for me!” - Dana
Groping back by the wall? Enough said. - Shane
“Based on verified scientific principles (How do you roll?, Oct. 16, 2024), AI-inspired research, Galileo’s renderings of bathroom architecture, a systematic study of general and fundamental questions concerning topics like existence, reason, knowledge, value, mind and language — and my talent of making nonsensical pronouncements — I'm an ‘over’ devotee. Good reads.” - John
I recommend you check out “Galileo's Error.” It's another good read. - Shane
“I'm an ‘over’ guy, and I change them every time they’re ‘under,’ everywhere I can (How do you roll?, Oct. 16, 2024).” - Brad
I have had suspicions about you. - Shane
Have a fantastic Friday, and thanks for reading.

Justifying the $18 Big Mac meal. McDonald’s has sued the world’s largest meat processors for violating the Sherman Antitrust Act, by allegedly conspiring since 2015 to limit beef supplies, leading to elevated prices for the meat they’ve sold. The lawsuit names Tyson Foods, Cargill, JBS and National Beef Packing as defendants. Collectively, these companies control 82% of the beef market. (WAPO)
A new study by Creative Fabrica surveyed Americans to find out who is the craftiest when it comes to Halloween. Key findings: one in seven Americans make food for Halloween from scratch; nearly two in five Americans enjoy both scratch-made and ready-made food for Halloween; Gen Z’ers (born 1997-2010) are the most likely generation to make food for Halloween from scratch.

Featured in the current issue of Adel Living magazine | | Tangens find room to grow Neighborhood and home provide ample space for family of six
By Lindsey Giardino

Because he’d soon be working in community, Tangen figured it would be wise to move his family to town, too.
