“Some of these go before your age bracket (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023), but this is a fun topic to rev up old gearheads or TV nerds: ‘Magnum P.I.’ - 1977 Ferrari 308 GTS; ‘The Monkees’ - 1966 Pontiac GTO; ‘The Green Hornet’ - 1966 Chrysler Imperial; ‘The Rockford Files’ - 1977 Pontiac Firebird Esprit; ‘Sanford and Son’ - 1951 Ford F1 4x2; ‘Miami Vice’ - 1972 Ferrari Daytona Spider and 1986 Ferrari Testarossa; ‘Wayne’s World’ - 1976 AMC Pacer; ‘Thelma and Louise’ - 1966 Ford Thunderbird; ‘Stripes’ - EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle; and ‘Rain Man’ - 1949 Buick Roadmaster.” - Rex I like the Fords — Rockford, Sanford, etc. - Shane
“And all this time I thought Bugs Bunny made that up (Open Sesame, April 11, 2023).” - Brad
Should have turned left at Albuquerque. - Shane
“Haven’t heard that expression in decades (Open Sesame, April 11, 2023). Not sure I ever pondered the origin. Know for sure kids in my neighborhood were saying it before either ‘Sesame Street’ or Amazon were twinkles in anyone’s eye. Pretty sure the gang wasn’t familiar with Ali Baba either, unless it was in a comic book!” - Chuck
Actually, Ali Baba did appear in a number of comic books. - Shane
“Good evening, Shane. ‘Wichita Lineman’ (Road songs, April 12, 2023).” - John
Searching in the sun for another overload. Not your traditional road song but a classic, indeed, and one of my favorites. - Shane
“Thanks for including 'Seven Bridges Road' written by my dear friend Steve Young (Road songs, April 12, 2023). I produced one of his last concerts at a local art gallery in Spencer in July 2014. Steve left this mortal coil in March 2017, but his beautiful songs live on. I know he'd be pleased. Remembering Buddha Young.” - Linda
Thanks for sharing your connection, Linda. How do I get some of that thyme-sweetened honey? - Shane
“I’m on the road now, driving to Colorado and just discovered ROAD TRIP RADIO on SXM14 (Road songs, April 12, 2023). A fun mix of genres and decades. Makin’ Nebraska a bit more tolerable.” - Judy
Judy, you are going to get all my Nebraska friends riled up. - Shane
Have a thoughtful Thursday, and thanks for reading.
