“As kids, my cousin and I would pretend to drive the General Lee all the time (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023). It was so much fun! A couple other favorites include ‘The A-Team’ van and KITT from ‘Knight Rider.’ Thanks!” - Martin
I pity the fool who forgot those classics. Thanks, Martin. – Shane
“You forgot the 1984 Sheepdog from ‘Dumb and Dumber’ (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023.) But, on a serious note, the 1932 Duesenberg in 1982’s ‘Annie’ always caught my eye!” - Kristen
Clearly, I am dumb… and dumber. - Shane
“Three movies immediately came to mind as I read your ‘Iconic car’ column (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023). First and foremost would be the beautiful white 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE featured in the movie ‘Vanishing Point’ released in 1970. Second, has to be ‘Gone in 60 Seconds’ (1974). Not so much for any particular car but more for the sheer number of cars destroyed or damaged (127). Third, ‘Bullitt’ featuring the 1968 Mustang GT. (1968). Need I say more? Thanks for the memories.” - Brent
Now I have three more movies to watch. Thank you, Brent! - Shane
“Oh, Shane... the shame! How could you leave out the hot rod hearse from ‘The Munsters’? (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023)?” - Jim
That certainly deserves to be added. - Shane
“Shane, don’t forget ‘Knight Rider’ with David Hasselhoff and his Pontiac Firebird (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023). That car would talk to you, drive while you were sleeping, drive by itself and was ‘intuitive’ as much as could be in the 1980s. Thanks for the memory ride!” - Clint
Now that’s the one I thought I would get even more letters on. Good call, Clint. - Shane
“1959 Thunderbird from ‘77 Sunset Strip’ and the Corvette from ‘Route 66’ — both TV shows from before your time (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023).” - Bruce
You proved it, Bruce. Iconic cars are timeless. - Shane
“I enjoyed your article about the iconic TV vehicles from our childhood (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023). Like you, I had a toy Batmobile and Batcave. A car I remember was the white 1957 T-Bird in ‘American Graffiti.’ Although, it might have been the driver, Suzanne Somers, who I remember the most.” - Kevin
Now I am distracted, too. - Shane
“Shane, there are a couple of cars I thought of that we saw on Saturday mornings growing up (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023). The first one was from ‘The Flintstones.’ I always thought it would be fun as a kid to make your car go by using your feet, not so much as an adult. The Flintstones’ car was called, the Flintmobile or Cavemobile back in the day. The second one was from ‘The Jetsons.’ Their vehicle wasn't a car, but it was their transportation. I always wanted one of their spaceships. I think it was called ‘The Flying Car’ back in the day. I would still like one of these. Thanks for the memories, as usual.” - Gail
What, no Mystery Machine? - Shane
“Corvettes from 1960 thru 1963 on ‘Route 66’ (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023)! Led me to buy mine — a 1967 Roadster.” - Gary
Keep rubbing in it, Gary. - Shane
“No better example of a great car in a movie (Iconic cars from film and TV, April 10, 2023) than the British Racing Green Mustang Fastback in the 1968 ‘Bullit.’ I purchased one of my favorite new cars as a senior at Des Moines Tech High School.” - Rick
I have to ask, and I am betting that you know: Where is it now, Rick? - Shane
“Hi, Shane. Here’s a few iconic cars that you left off: Cameron’s dad’s Ferrari in ‘Ferris Bueller.’ He doesn’t even drive it; he just rubs it with a diaper. James Bond’s Aston Martin — I think this one more so than any other Bond car, but that could be a list all by itself. And lastly… the ‘family truckster’ station wagon from ‘National Lampoon’s Vacation.’ ” - Dewayne
You have a keen eye, Dewayne, and a great memory. Thanks for sharing those. - Shane
