Good morning to you!

I have long toes. My wife says they are creepy. I say they provide me with great balance. I stuck to my interpretation for decades until I decided to do some research on this whole toe thing.

Let’s start with the fact that my second toe is longer than the others. I grew up thinking that was the case for everyone. Apparently not. My wife’s big toe is the longest of hers, and, from what I can tell, that seems to be the case with most people. Regardless, here is what I learned from higherperspectives.com.

If your big toe is longer than the others, like my wife’s, the site says you’re bright and creative. You creatively solve your problems and can easily think outside of the box. You find it difficult to stay focused, however, and tend to abandon projects partway through. If it is smaller than the other toes, it indicates the opposite. You’re an effective multitasker, but you tend to do things by the books.

If your second toe is longer, like mine, the site says you’re a born leader. You're great at managing people and coordinating efforts. You are energetic and resourceful and stand up for what you believe in. If your second toe is shorter than the others, it means you may have trouble standing up for yourself, though you are more level-headed.

If your third toe is longer, you tend to have a more dynamic personality and are successful in your field of work. This toe is linked with your energy and willpower, as well as your drive. You tend to be a perfectionist. If the third toe is shorter, you live a simpler life and enjoy the small things. Chilling out is your go-to.

If your fourth toe is long and straight, you care deeply about your family life. Personal matters come before anything else, and you are a wonderful listener. Your family is where you draw your strength. If the fourth toe is shorter and curved, you may need to unwind a little bit, as you are prone to being a worrier. Focus on your family and love life.

If your little toe is very little, it may indicate that you do not handle responsibilities all that well and you get easily bored and lose focus. You are a joker and tend to be well liked, but responsibilities are not your strong suit. If your little toe wiggles independently of the others, it indicates an adventurous, charming and impulsive spirit.

Well, there you have it. We “toed” the line today. Do you agree with the analysis? What do your toes tell you? Send me a note and let me know.

Have a marvelous Monday, and thanks for reading.

Hospitals and meadowlarks — How we define our identity as Iowans, and how our designs define us.

By Jim Duncan

“Iowa is a special place that has crafted itself to claim a big part of the future but, at the same time, never sacrificed those values of person and community upon which a successful society must rest.” — Hugh Sidey

Iowa’s glorious and renewable productivity was fashioned by the hands of God, but it was discovered by human imagination. The signal moment in the state’s destiny was wrought in courage. Before European settlers, Iowans lived in the forests that protected them from the terror of grasses taller than covered wagons and inflammable as visions of hell.

Having dealt with convention and visitor bureaus and tourism boards for 40 years, I tout Lexington, Kentucky's for being ahead of the curve. They popularized tours of horse farms and Bourbon distillers. Now they are really reaching out. Last week VisitLEX teamed up with scientists and scholars from University of Kentucky in Lexington to use an infrared laser to beam a message towards different planets in the TRAPPIST-1 solar system 40 light years away. If there are forms of life there, they surely will want to try Kentucky Bourbon, or visit "the Wrigley Field of horse racing" - Keeneland.
