Good morning to you!

Welcome to the Friday mailbag where you will find some of the comments, questions and ideas sent recently by subscribers of this newsletter or our publications. They are edited for space and clarity.

“If I do not look in the mirror, I do not feel old (The age you stop feeling young, Aug. 29, 2023).” - George

And if you break a mirror? - Shane

“I am a 53-year-old woman who still feels like she’s 20 (The age you stop feeling young, Aug. 29, 2023)! One of my best friends is 30. Age is just a number. I just had a 35-year class reunion, and my mind can’t wrap my head around that because I don’t even feel 35.” - Kelly

Listen to modern music. You will feel old soon. - Shane

“Clubbing in your twenties meant dancing and drinking all night long. Clubbing in your fifties means going to Costco (The age you stop feeling young, Aug. 29, 2023).” - Rex

Shopping for Bengay, right? - Shane

“Good morning, Shane. Nice homage to Bob Barker (Come on down, Aug. 30, 2023). My mom was on ‘The Price Is Right’ in the 1950s. Memories are a bit cloudy about specifics for that experience, but I remember my Army father hauling a small speed boat with shark logos on the sides to his new assignment in Colorado Springs from Philadelphia.” - John

Everyone needs a speedboat with shark logos. - Shane

“Good morning, Shane. Awesome column this morning (Come on down, Aug. 30, 2023)! Thank you for sharing personal details and things you remembered about Bob and his shows.” - Pennie

None of us are perfect, but in the world of so much hatred and divide, Bob Barker brought a smile to many faces. - Shane

“You wrote in a very kind way of telling the incident with Dian Parkinson and Bob Barker (Come on down, Aug. 30, 2023). It's part of the complete story. Since you don't watch the show, but I sometimes see a little bit as it proceeds one of my wife's soaps, it is not in the classy way Bob did things that Drew throws the notes he reads as he reveals the winner of the showcase on the floor. Seems disrespectful to the crew.” - John

Only two people know the true story, and one of them just died. In terms of Drew’s approach, he certainly has some big shoes to fill. - Shane

“Pretty much covers it (Salute to working Americans, Sept. 4, 2023). Well said!” - Chuck

I appreciate your comments, Chuck. Pretty much. - Shane

Have a fantastic Friday, and thanks for reading.

Boneless, skinless, chicken breast prices fell from $3.60 a pound in June 2022 to below $1 by January, according to the USDA. Wall Street Journal reported that Tyson, the largest chicken producer in America, ramped up production of chicken, raising more of their own to avoid middle men after COVID eased. They overdid it and now are closing major chicken plants to cut costs. And restaurants are now pushing "boneless wings" which are breasts.

Popeye's new specials include a 5-piece dinner with two sides and two biscuits for $10.99.
